Kim, the creator behind XO My Home, took over our Instagram last month to give us a tour of her Florida home, which she shares with her husband and three kids. The family of five live in just over 1,600 square feet, but the small space isn’t lacking design. Kim makes the most out of every room and uses bold-colored graphic rugs to make a statement. Here, Kim shares her favorite Ruggable rugs she uses in her master bathroom, home office, and lanai.
Name: Kim
Profession: Creator of XO My Home and Interior Design Enthusiast
Design Style: “We’re a family of five living in just over 1,600 square feet, so I would say my design is really centered around maximizing every square footage of our home and making sure the needs of every member are met.
Another really important element in my design is making sure that our home is livable. So with young children, I want it to be beautiful but also practical and very functional, and that’s why I personally love Ruggable. It’s nice to be able to roll it up, toss it in the wash and have it come out like new. It just makes complete sense for a family with small children like us where mess and stains and crumbs are pretty much inevitable.”
Master Bathroom
“My favorite room in the house is our ensuite. This is my little oasis. Here I have the Vintage Heriz Ruby Red runner, which adds the right pop of color. You’ll see this throughout my home, it’s pretty neutral with lots of whites, lots of greys and black and brass hardware. I’ll introduce color through greenery, art, and decor items.”
Home Office
“The Broken Stripe Black Rug in my home office is probably one of my favorite rugs of the home. This is actually a dining table I use as a desk, and when we have guests, it quickly converts into a dining table. As you can see, I love introducing statement walls throughout the home. It’s as simple as painting a black wall to create a moody vibe.”
Lanai
“The newest space in our home that I designed and created is called a lanai in Florida, but essentially it’s just a covered back porch. Here I have another favorite rug from Ruggable, the Outdoor Normada White Rug. It just makes sense to have a washable outdoor rug given the rain and dust that we get here.
As you can see, I love my feature walls so here’s another one. I built this wall using pine boards. Essentially it’s just a slat wall that we use to hang plants and I just love the life that it brings to the space.”
