Raise your hand if you’ve ever thrown away an expensive rug because of a pet accident or you spilled coffee on it. Yup, that’s pretty much everyone. In fact, it’s the same premise that gave birth to Ruggable’s machine-washable rugs.
In creating Ruggable, our founder Jeneva Bell didn’t just find a solution for keeping our homes clean while also reducing product waste. She also found Ruggable’s mission: create safe and comfortable spaces for our fellow beings on this planet we all call home. Hence, the People, Pets, & Planet initiative was born.
Developed and helmed by Jeneva, the People, Pets, & Planet initiative focuses on working with organizations that help improve the lives of people and pets in need while working towards more sustainable business practices. While giving back to the community has always been a part of Ruggable since its inception, we wanted to formalize this program to ensure philanthropy is always a part of our DNA.
Below, Jeneva tells us more about the program and highlights some of our partners that are doing amazing work.
Why did you feel it was important for Ruggable to launch this program?
Jeneva Bell: It’s always been important to me that Ruggable takes time to give back. We didn’t want to limit our philanthropy to just one category, so we created the People, Pets, and Planet initiative to support the three things we care about most.
I’m so excited to tell people about our amazing partners and highlight the incredibly powerful work they’re doing in their communities.
Why did you decide to focus on people, pets, and the planet?
JB: People, Pets and the Planet are all different aspects of what we call “home,” something that is part of our spirit as a brand. All of our philanthropic partners are deeply tied to supporting and maintaining a healthy and happy home. Here are some of our giving partners and their key missions:
A Sense of Home: Helps create happy homes for former foster youth who have aged out of the system by providing donated furniture and home goods.
FACE Foundation: Sponsors life-saving surgeries and critical care for pets whose owners could not afford it otherwise.
One Tree Planted: Helps companies like ours minimize our carbon footprint through reforestation all around the world.
What are you most excited about for this program?
JB: I’m excited to share the individual stories about the people, pets, and places we are able to positively impact. This makes the program more personal and reminds us that it doesn’t take much to make a big difference.
We are really looking forward to getting our hands dirty and planting some trees ourselves, helping decorate new homes for foster youth, and anything else that can introduce our team to the organizations and inspire them to want to get more involved in the community.
What do you hope to accomplish in the next year?
JB: There are so many things we want to achieve, but for starters, we intend to plant 100,000 trees this year, sponsor 24+ medical procedures for pets, and provide 3,000+ essential home decor furnishings to families in need.
What can Ruggable customers do to help?
JB: Our customers have made all of this possible! All we ask from our customers is to continue providing feedback so that we can make the absolute best products for their homes, and in turn make a larger impact on the world.

I just bought my first Ruggable and it’s really great. I’m using it in my “bird room.” I have rescued small parrots through Mickaboo Companion Bird Rescue, for which I also am a volunteer, and the birds are quite messy when it comes to floors! Thank you for having this philanthropy as part of your company!!!! And thank you for making masks and giving them away!

I think it’s a terrific idea ! To give back . I’ve been wanting to purchase a rug for a long time finances have not allowed that to happen . As soon as financial possible I’m buying 3 rugs and then later on two more 1 9×6 and 2 5×7’s and I smaller I think

I love the washability of the rugs. However, I have had them over one year and now they curl all around the edges. I have steamed with a hand held steamer and a steam iron, but they still curl. Is there any solution?

What a wonderful product you have – beautiful rugs that can be washed at home. I’ve had great rugs but what an ordeal to get them cleaned! My floors are bare now but I’m going to change that with your creative and practical collection. Your People, Pets, Planet initiative is admirable.
