Like many Americans when the COVID-19 pandemic began, the first thing we asked ourselves was: how can we help?
While we don’t have many answers, we have found a way to be helpful. We’re proud to announce that Ruggable is producing face masks to protect our front-line heroes who need them the most: workers at essential businesses. As a nod to our name, we’re affectionately calling this initiative “Maskable.”
What Is Maskable
Inspired by Mayor Eric Garcetti’s call for LA manufacturers to produce five million masks, we’ve dedicated a portion of our manufacturing facilities to producing non-medical cotton face masks for essential workers in Los Angeles. These Maskable masks are designed to meet L.A. Protects and Kaiser Permanente’s guidelines and specifications. And just like our rugs, our masks are machine-washable and can be used again and again.
“We are all in this together, and core to our values is giving back to the community,” says Ruggable CMO Linda Lai. “We are excited to do our part, not just in terms of monetary donations, but in helping essential workers be safer. We had sewing machines readily available, all we had to do was source fabric and thread. I am very proud to say that Ruggable stood up to the challenge in less than 24 hours, thanks to our Product team.”
Maskable is Ruggable’s response to help delivery workers, grocery store employees, bus drivers, and other essential workers who work round the clock to ensure that our world keeps functioning during this difficult time.
So far, we’ve donated 3,350+ washable masks to the essential workers at Best Friends Society, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and the Los Angeles Unified School District. With Maskable masks, Ruggable aims to spread love, not germs.
In addition to providing life-protecting masks to as many essential workers as we can, Ruggable has also supported organizations that feed and distribute supplies to the most vulnerable people during this time. We’ve made donations to Feeding America, Baby2Baby, and No Kid Hungry.

We owe our lives to the thousands of essential and healthcare workers throughout the nation who are on the front lines, doing all they can to take care of the sick, deliver our packages, and keep our grocery stores open. Thank you for helping to make our lives a little bit easier during this difficult time.
