You’ll recognize our Absida Rainbow Rug when you see it. With its mirrored arch pattern in graduated shades of blue, yellow, and red, this Bauhaus-inspired rug complements a wide variety of home designs—from retro-chic to modern to bohemian to eclectic.
Because of its statement-making, modern-abstract design, it’s no wonder that this rainbow rug has been popping up everywhere, including Queer Eye‘s Jonathan Van Ness’ Instagram stories.
If you want in on this trending rug style but feeling a little intimidated by its bold colors, not to worry. We’ve gathered some of the best ways our shoppers have styled this iconic rainbow rug, plus a few tips on how to make it work in any space.
1. Place it in a neutral space to add a pop of color
This is probably the easiest, most obvious place to put a colorful rainbow rug. Any room where there is an abundance of white space (think white or cream walls, cabinets, or big furniture) is an opportunity for its colors to pop. Let it shine on its own, or sprinkle colors here and there to enliven your space.
2. Use in nurseries and kids’ playrooms to amp up the fun factor…
Rainbow colors not only radiate joy and happiness. They also inspire creativity, especially among little ones. And this is why we see this rug often in nurseries, kids’ bedrooms, and playrooms.
PRO TIP: Because kids’ toys and things tend to be colorful as well, try to keep the bigger furniture and the rest of your decor in neutral colors. Put colorful toys in woven baskets or neutral-colored bins so they don’t overwhelm the space. Read more styling tips for kids’ rooms here.
3. …Or even in older kids’ rooms
Another great thing about this rug design is that while it’s colorful, it doesn’t look childish at all. Its abstract pattern boasts a retro charm that appeals to kids, teens, and adults alike. So if you’re thinking of getting this design for your kids’ room, you can rest easy knowing that your child can enjoy it for a longer period of time.
3. Use it to spruce up your space any time of the year
With its broad color range, this rug design can be enjoyed all year round—in the spring and summer when the season calls for bright and bold colors, and also during fall and winter when we prefer our spaces to look warmer and cozier.
PRO TIP: For an evergreen look, balance out the rug’s warm tone by placing it around greenery.
4. Pair With Green Furniture to Maximize Appeal
If you’re feeling a little bit bolder, pair this statement rug with another statement furniture. A dark green velvet couch or some emerald green dining chairs will look very elevated, even unexpected, against the rug’s warmer colors.
5. Use it wherever you need a fun, colorful backdrop
As if you need another use case for this rug. But in case you do, how about a selfie background? We don’t know anyone who doesn’t look glowing against a rainbow backdrop—not even our furry friend here. No filters required!

I like the green of the t-rex rug. Do you do custom rugs?

I have several Ruggables around the home. I have two in my kitchen. I love I can wash them but the matt is too thin & doesn’t offer any support on my tile floors. Wish you offered an option of thicker matts. Is this something you think you will do?
I received one of your rugs for Christmas, which I love, but I wish you also made the smaller throw rug size.
