Thanksgiving has always been about good food, great company, meaningful conversations, and the gorgeous dining room rug that brings them all together. Even if you’re not hosting or celebrating in a big way, there’s no reason to skip decorating your dining room this year. After all, with or without guests, Thanksgiving will always be a feast for the senses.
If you need a little help in the decor department, we’ve got you covered! Make your dining room as memorable as your menu with these Thanksgiving dining room decor ideas.
1. Adorn Your Table With Seasonal Elements
You can never go wrong with adding seasonal staples to your tabletop: pumpkins, faux fall leaves, pillar candles on stands, and an autumn-themed runner. Make the colors pop with a black and white plaid rug, or complement them with a fall-themed one.
2. Go Beyond the Table
Take your tablescape beyond your dining table. If you have a buffet table or mantel next to the table, feel free to decorate that as well to help set the mood and give your space a more coordinated look.
3. Cozy Up Your Dining Chairs
Adding a cozy throw or pillow on your dining chair not only warms up the space, but it also makes the atmosphere feel less formal, making your guests more comfortable and relaxed. A glass of wine (or five) can also do the trick.
4. Let Your Dining Room Rug Do the Talking
Sometimes you don’t need much to pull off an elegant dining atmosphere. A fall-themed dining room rug can get the job done just as well as any fall decor. Some of them, like the Aurelia Amber Rug, Delphina Black and White Rug, and the Hudson Stripe Rust Orange Rug, can even double as a conversation starter!
5. Add Something Unexpected
If you think traditional seasonal decorations are très passé, feel free to shake things up. A leafy garland instead of a runner can make your tabletop look more organic than styled. Or you can give it a more elevated look by switching out your orange-tinged centerpiece with a dried pampas grass in a neutral color. The best thing about Thanksgiving is that it’s all about gathering your loved ones, and so your Thanksgiving decor should be as personal and intimate as you want it to be.
