Reem Hassaballa, a teacher and self-proclaimed home decor enthusiast, shares a home in Chicago with her husband and four children. The mostly neutral space features bright white walls and stunning architecture that she’s beautifully complemented with globally inspired dark and light pieces, natural elements, and dramatic art. While the inside of her house is full of design inspiration, her outdoor spaces are equally beautiful. Below, Reem shares how she uses Ruggable rugs to dress up three messy, high-traffic areas of her home.
Name: Reem Hassaballa
Profession: Interior stylist and content creator behind Reem’s Design
Design Style: “I am a mixer of styles. You will find vintage and modern looks in my home. Since this is a vintage house, I like to put a spin on it and try to mix in modern pieces with the old to give it a very unique, eclectic look.”
Mudroom
“This back mudroom space has got to be one of the hardest working areas in my house. We come in here, throw down our shoes, and put down our backpacks. I knew I wanted a really nice rug in here, but I was so worried about it getting dirty. I no longer need to shout, ‘Take your dirty shoes off!’ because I finally found the perfect rug. It coordinates with the black shiplap so well. And it’s perfect because we have shoes thrown on here most of the time and I can just wash it when it gets dirty.”
Patio
“We recently got our pool done this summer. When I set up this area with lawn chairs, I wanted to make it feel like a resort and everyone who comes here says it feels so comfortable. I put our two beautiful Ruggable rugs out here and it just turned out perfect. Not only does it protect the hardscape but it also makes it a little more inviting and softens it up. They make the space feel so cozy and soft. You might be thinking they get so dirty being outside, and they do, but I can put them in the washing machine and they come out just like new.”
Front Porch
“At first I gasped at the thought of the delivery man ruining my pretty new rug delivering all the boxes this season, but I don’t need to worry about that because I can wash it, thanks to Ruggable. I no longer need to watch him from my front window. He can deliver in peace.”

We want to put a rug around our hot tub. What will the water and chemicals do to it? How often should it be washed?
Hi, Rhonda! 😊
Our Outdoor Rugs specifically are water-resistant ( but not water absorbent), mold and mildew-resistant, and designed to hold up exceptionally well in high-traffic areas. However, we recommend placing your rug in areas where excessive water is not present.
There is no specific time frame on when you can or should wash your Ruggable Rug as it largely depends on where it is in your house and how you interact with it. Higher traffic areas may require more frequent washes whereas areas with less traffic may require some spot cleaning and more spread out washes. You can also spot clean the areas that may get dirty faster, instead of washing the whole rug. ✨
